About the Cover
Cover: Ciliogenesis in rat trachea. The 200-300 cilia produced on the surface of each tracheal epithelial cell are subtended by basal bodies produced via templated and non-templated pathways. In addition to the cilia, the micrograph also reveals microvilli, seen as the smaller circular structures between the axoneme-containing cilia. Image courtesy of Alison Faragher and Keith Gull. See Commentary by H. R. Dawe et al. (pp. 7
-15).
