Cover: Nematocysts in tentacles of the freshwater polyp Hydra stained with DAPI. The nematocyst capsules fluoresce bright yellow as a result of DAPI binding to poly-
-glutamate in the capsule matrix. The high concentration of poly--glutamate in the matrix creates the osmotic pressure needed for capsule explosion. Capsules are 5-10
