About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover: HeLa cells expressing green fluorescence protein fusions of lamina-associated polypeptide (LAP)2{alpha} were fixed and analyzed by confocal immunofluorescence microscopy using antibodies to lamin B. Both LAP2{alpha} (green) and lamin B (red) are spread throughout the cytoplasm in early anaphase (top), but LAP2{alpha} translocates to distinct chromosomal structures during anaphase - telophase transition (middle). The majority of lamin B assembles around nuclei at telophase - G1 phase transition, while LAP2{alpha} distributes uniformly throughout the nuclear interior (bottom). DNA was stained with Hoechst dye (blue). Images were provided by Thomas Dechat and Roland Foisner, Vienna Biocenter, University of Vienna. See Cell Science at a Glance article by R. Foisner (pp. 3791-3792).
