About the Cover
Cover: In eukaryotic nuclei, DNA is wrapped around molecular spools, the histone octamer, to form nucleosomes. Recently, enzymes have been discovered that can convert the chemical energy of ATP into movements of intact histone octamers on DNA, supplying an elegant solution to the problem of how to keep DNA packaged and accessible at the same time. On pp. 2561-2568, Längst and Becker review our knowledge of one such nucleosome mobilization enzyme, the ATPase ISWI. The cover image was created by Petra Riedinger and Volker Wiersdorf, EMBL, Heidelberg.
