About the Cover
Cover: The image shows a 'surface plot' of a local calcium signal (calcium puff) arising from inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor activation. The calcium concentration is encoded in the height of the surface and in the warmth of the colours. The image was obtained by confocal line imaging of a Fluo-3-loaded HeLa cell stimulated with histamine. See article in this issue by Bootman et al. (p. 2213). Figure reproduced, with permission from Thomas, D. et al. (2000) Curr. Biol. 10, 8-15.
