Editorial

New JCS Editor

Fiona M. Watt, Editor-in-Chief and Richard Sever, Executive Editor

It is a pleasure to announce the appointment of Giampetro Schiavo as an Editor of Journal of Cell Science. Currently based at the CRUK London Research Institute (LRI), Giampetro started his research career in 1983 at the University of Padua in Italy, where he remained until 1994. After post-doctoral work at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, he moved to the LRI in 1996 to head the Molecular Neuropathobiology Laboratory. He also holds a position as an Honorary Professor in the Department of Physiology at University College London. Giampetro's research focuses on the mechanisms involved in membrane trafficking in neurons and the mechanisms of action of bacterial toxins. On behalf of everyone at JCS, we welcome him to the editorial team and look forward to working with him.

Giampetro's arrival coincides with the departure of W. James Nelson. Ending his second stint as an Editor of JCS, James will be sorely missed. He has worked tirelessly for the journal in various capacities over the years. We are delighted that he has agreed to remain a member of our Editorial Board and will continue to support JCS actively in that role.
