Fig. S2. Histology of p63−/− knockout mice. Histologically, only very rare skin patches are present in the outer part of tissues taken from 19.5-day embryos. Complementation of p63−/− mice with ΔNp63α (p63−/−;ΔN), allows a degree of epidermal development. The reintroduction of both ΔNp63α and TAp63α into the p63−/− background (p63−/−;ΔN;TA) results in a more extensive reconstruction of the basal layer in several skin areas as observed in the sections stained for K14 (red) and p63 (green).
