of SP cells in the presence of verapamil. A high percentage of cells are
contained within the SP gate when samples are stained with low concentrations
of Hoechst dye (B) and decrease with high Hoechst dye concentrations (D, E).
Accordingly, verapamil-resistant cells, which are probably be not SP cells, are
present in the SP gate when samples are stained with low Hoechst dye
concentrations (A) and decrease at high dye concentrations (C, E).
