California has more Nobel laureates in the sciences than any other state, but its children get the lowest test scores. Why is this? Caveman thinks the answer is a lack of funding and promotion of science in schools (see p. 1341). He urges scientists to become advocates for funding of science in schools and have more contact with science teachers/students.
