More graduate students, more postdocs, more funding, more lab space: does this signify success? Many people seem to think so, but Caveman isn't sure. On p. 3027, he argues that in a big lab the PI necessarily devotes less time to each lab member and that there are other disadvantages for both lab members and lab heads.
