A Modification to the Huxley Ultramicrotome

The mechanism of advance of the Huxley ultramicrotome was modified by the addition of appropriate gearing to facilitate the routine preparation of 1/2 to 2 µ sections for phase contrast or interference microscopy as an adjunct to the study of thin adjacent sections by electron microscopy. The plate depicts the nature of the modification.
